Still getting used to my new camera. I have taken awesome pics. I have lots of compliments on my pictures and people are always asking me what kind of camera do I have. A few close-up pics have not been sharp enough, but others are very sharp. So I just need to learn how to use what setting when. I do better if someone shows me rather than me read it. My last camera was also a Fuji. I like this one because I don't have to carry extra batteries with me in my purse, but do have to find room for the lightweight battery charger. Not a problem!!! I carry a WWII musac canvas bag for my purse!!! My cousin (who is a Doctor) is a camera buff. He is the one that suggested this camera. I think you will enjoy it too.
I've had this camera for about 2 weeks, and have yet to test out every function, but what I have experienced, I like very, very much. I am a long-time film SLR advanced amateur. I have a Panasonic FZ-20, which I still use extensively. But I wanted something to put in my pocket which had a substantial zoom and took excellent quality shots. After considerable research, I settled on the FujiFilm F70EXR. The one drawback I've noted is that there's a considerable learning curve, since there are so many shooting modes, but for us nerds, that's a plus, since we like to tinker with these things. The Pro-Focus mode which throws the background out of focus to deliver great portraits really works, but I have run into situations where the camera tells me that it can't perform the desired function. The Pro Low-Light mode works well too, snapping four shots in rapid succession, and merging them into one 5MP picture. The Natural/Flash mode is one I've used several times, when I wonder if available light or flash would produce a better result. This mode takes one of each in rapid succession. The movie mode is good and meets my needs, though it's not HD, and would probably not please the video enthusiast. You can zoom while shooting video, but the zoom is very rapid, and it needs to refocus. In summary, I have gotten some really fine quality shots with this camera, the price I paid was small ($219), and it continues to be a lot of fun.Read full review
Pros: The film simulation modes, auto red-eye removal, 10x optical zoom. Great shot-to-shot times and low shutter lag Cons: Grainy, grainy, blurred, dim, and grainy Summary: I had an old Fujifilm 2MP digital camera that took incredibly crisp and beautifully detailed photos, until my kids broke it :(. I expected that same quality when I bought this, but I was wrong. 90% of indoor pictures turned out extremely grainy, no matter the ISO setting selected, unless the subject was within 2-5 feet of the camera. I had a chance to take many photos of a couple opening presents in a well-lit room, from about 10 feet away. I tested using Auto with AutoISO 400, using the Indoor Party scene mode, and using the auto EXR mode. The camera chose the 400 ISO for every picture, resulting in identical grainy, noisy, mottled photos no matter the camera setting. A point and shoot should be able to handle this scene on auto and return decent pictures. I got clearer pictures setting the ISO down to 200, however the resulting images were quite dark despite the well-lit room and still a bit noisy. Telling my wife she'd have to use manual settings all the time would not go over well at all. The Sports scene mode was useless at my son's game. Granted it was a cloudy day, but pictures were dull, colors were off and not at all vibrant, and still grainy. The auto focus could not keep up with the action, despite highlighting my kid before snapping the shots. He's fast, but c'mon. Auto mode did no better. It's hard to believe Fujifilm would release this camera. They have done and can do better than this.Read full review
When viewing cameras photo results, it makes you feel like a pro in no time. The X10 Zoom is fantistic. The EXR Auto mode capabilities are unreal. The auto adjustments of various shooting scenes allows you take your best shots without having to look at the manual and waste your valuable time. The camera is very compact and very powerful, way over the top. The camera does not have a direct AC Power adaptor to charge the battery however if you just buy an extra battery for backup then it's NO Problem. The supplied battery charger is fast with an indicator light that goes out when the battery is fully charged, at most it takes about 1hr and your done!. Done deal....
